Myrtle Beach was a very popular beach when we visited. The hotels were full and the beach was packed.  We were one of the tourists as it was our first trip to explore Myrtle Beach.

There was a lot to see besides the beach.  Golf courses seemed to be everywhere along with shopping for the ladies and amusement parks for the kids.  Good restaurants were plentiful.

We brought our beach sun canopy which is really an extra large beach umbrella and set up camp on the beach.   The beach was great.  It was wide and flat with white sand.  The water was good for surfing on small waves and there was ample water activities available.  The walks along the waters edge was fun and filled with unique people watching.

So if your looking for a nice southern, east coast, beach location Myrtle Beach will always be a good selection.

On the Gulf coast of Florida is the quiet town of Ft Myers. The beaches there are very popular as they are wide and flat with white sand and calm warm water.  Perfect for relaxing at the beach.

The Gulf of Mexico is shallow for many miles out from the beach which keeps the water calm and not wavy.  There are a few palm trees along the beach if you get lucky, mostly it is highly developed with condos along the beach.

Ocean City NJ is a family vacation location.  Ocean City has their famous boardwalk that provides 2.5 miles of walking, jogging and biking stretching along the beach and ocean.  This Jersey shore location is only a little more than an hour from Philadelphia and 2 hours to New York.  Many people from nearby communities spend a weeks vacation here each summer.

The boardwalk is lined with shops, high tech arcades, miniature golf, amusement parks and eateries.  In the evenings it is easy to see the lighted famous OC Ferris Wheel.  There is plenty of entertainment to choose from.  Another reason they call this a family vacation location is that the island is free from sales of alcoholic beverages.

The beach at OC is wide and flat.  Everyone must obtain a beach tag from the city.  This tag allows you to use the city beaches, which are clean and well maintained.  There are plenty of places to obtain a beach umbrella and they provide beach umbrellas reviews to help with your selection.

Our summer with our young boys at the OC beach was a fun time.  We stayed with friends and enjoyed the town.  You will too.

Marco Island has gorgeous beaches.  Marco Island is located on the Gulf of Mexico on the SW tip of Florida.  It is a densely populated island with a string of major hotels and resorts for the sunbathing tourists.

The Marco Island beaches are great in that the are very wide, flat and with fine white sand.  The water is typically shallow, warm, very calm and just laps up onto the beach, unlike the ocean side of Florida which can have high waves and wind.  Looking West over the Gulf provides fantastic sunsets.

Florida is hot therefore Marco Island can be hot, especially in the summer, so check out the beach umbrella reviews and bring one or rent one there.  Florida can provide very relaxing vacations and it is always best to be prepared and bring your protection from the sun, umbrella beach activities to enjoy it the most.

Luckily, Marco Island is a fairly short drive for us and Kristy and I have enjoyed the beaches there many times.  We’ve been there on pleasure and for business and even business is very pleasurable on Marco Island.

Maniniowali Beach is listed as one of the top Hawaiian beaches.  It is located on the North West shore of Hawaii, the big island.  This is such a unique island due to the volcanoes.  When there be sure to investigate the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, home of Kilauea the most active volcano on earth.

We stayed next to Maniniowali Beach at the Waikoloa Hilton Hotel which also had volcanic rock beaches.  No matter how good your heavy duty beach umbrella is, it is not going to penetrate the rock on volcanic beaches.  You don’t even want to walk along the waters edge as it is just too rocky.  The resort had well manicured lawns going almost to the waters edge which was close enough to enjoy the ocean.

When on Maniniowali Beach, like most Hawaiian beaches, be sure bring your best beach umbrella for wind.  The beaches tend to get windy in the afternoons.

The beautiful Hanauma Bay is located 10 miles east of Waikiki on the island of Oahu, Hawaii.  This is a great snorkel area with lots of rich coral reefs.  When we went we saw schools of tropical fish both small and fairly large plus sea turtles.   The fish were close enough to touch.

Hanauma Bay is actually an old volcano, where the ocean side wall collapsed and created the bay.  The rock ledges on the sides are made of old lava and are very porous and rough.  This is a Hawaii nature preserve and is well maintained.  It is a very busy beach so be prepared to be among the masses who enjoy it.

The curved beach is great with outstanding views and the sun is hot so bring your best beach gear and portable beach umbrellas for comfort.  The swim in the warm waters, stretching out on the beach and the idea of being in a volcano make Hanauma Bay a unique experience.

The beaches on Hanalei bay located on the north shore of Kauai, Hawaii are spectacular in so many ways.  The calm warm water is shallow, filled with coral reefs and exotic fish perfect for snorkeling.  The clear blue water laps up on the white sand beach.  The view across the opening of the bay shows the Bali High backdrop made famous in the 1958 movie South Pacific.  Looking inland Hanalei Bay is partially surrounded by low mountains and valleys with long waterfalls and lush green vegetation.  The bay and beach were included in many scenes in the recent movie with George Clooney, The Descendants.

This is a beach where you want to spend days relaxing and taking in all the glory of being on what people call the garden island.  Bring your best beach shade or large beach umbrella so you can stay out in the sun as long as possible.  Kristy and I enjoyed a beach week at the Princeville resort right on the bay.  We golfed and even took a fantastic helicopter tour of the island which include the Grand Canyon of the Pacific which was a wonderful surprise.

When you think of Hawaii you think of beautiful beaches as they just go together.  Some of the best beaches in the world are located on the islands of Hawaii.  I would guess that the beach that continually has the most people on the beach is Waikiki Beach on the island of Oahu at the town of Honolulu.  Honolulu is a very busy touristy town and people gravitate to this beach.  I have been one of those people.  It is a wide beach, with typically calm warm clear waters.

About an hours drive is Oahu’s North Shore and is one of the many beaches that provide outstanding surfing.  Here you need to know what you are doing if you going to try surfing, check with the locals for safety recommendations.

The Caribbean is one of my most favorite places to explore, have fun and enjoy the beaches.  Luckily, living here in SE Florida the logistics of getting there is fairly pain free.  Typically, we fly into Puerto Rico and then hop to the island of choice.  There are so many mare places that I want to visit.  Here is a list of some secluded out of the way places that sound like places I would like to visit.  We enjoy the less traveled locations and enjoy the local people, food, environment and beaches.  Each place has its unique benefits.

So many of the islands have great beaches that have maintained their natural splendor.  Many are not the easiest to get to which means that development has not happened in favor of the tourists.

Gouverneurs beach on the island of St. Barts is one of my most favorite secluded beaches.  You must hike using a goat path to reach it.  Once you arrive you do not want to leave.  It has its own shallow bay, great for snorkeling in the crystal clear water.  The white sand beach is lined with coconut trees providing shade.

The Southern tip of Key Biscayne Florida is a wonderful oasis away from the traffic and masses of Miami.  This stretch of beach is gorgeous and has kept its natural old Florida appeal.  You typically find plenty of people because it is so beautiful, but mostly local non-tourists.  This beach is part of the Bill Baggs Cape Florida state park and is well maintained.

This is a beach that gets plenty of wind off of the ocean so be sure to bring your wind resistant beach umbrella.  You will want plenty of beach shade because Southern Florida gets tons of sun and is really hot in the summer months.  Another great feature of this beach is the Cape Florida Lighthouse, one of the oldest lighthouses on the East coast.  They claim this beach is one of the top 10 in the country and I can see why.  We had a great time there.  The weather was perfect, the water was warm and the sea breeze refreshing.
